We all know how much Jake Ryan hates Nirvana and he also hates Husker Du because they influenced Nirvana. Will another influential force in the life of Kurt Cobain also suffer the same cruel fate? (And I get shit for being the one that hates music!)

I’ve always loved The Vaselines and for what it’s worth, I never heard their influence come through on any of Nirvana’s work. I think Cobain had pretty solid taste in music. So does Kevin Griffin from Better Than Ezra, but like hell am I going to find myself enjoying any of their music. Am I going off on a tangent? The point is, the band you hate/dislike/sort of tolerate may be the product of something you love. I’d say The Vaselines fall into that category.

If for no other reason than to hear the truthful line: “I hate the ’80s cos the ’80s were shit.”
