See – it’s not just on the show that I argue with friends about music. It’s on Facebook too. Below is an part of an arguement between me and my good friend Noah about Pomplamoose. I say “part” of an arguement, because like the American military, I was fighting on multiple fronts – a whole different string of arguement about this exact same video was happening on Noah’s facebook page at the same time.
So – here to tide you over until Danger Radio Episode 51…. (Read the whole damn thing after the cut)
Jake Ryan is coughing up a lung and I split my palm open today slipping on ice. Will Danger Radio Episode 51 happen tonight as scheduled? Only the bones know for sure…. I don’t want to leave you in the dark as to the delay though.

The other day I mentioned a song that I recently discovered in the bowels of my music collection. That song was The Arcade Fire – Black Mirror (Full-Source Remix). Some of you may have been disappointed in your old pal Danger when you realized that I gave you a dead link. (Thanks for the heads up Nala).
By now you’ve surely listened to Danger Radio Episode 35 and heard the remix. As I promised in that episode, here is the link to download that sucka for your own collection.
In the fall of 2003, I had an obligation to take a trip from Denver to Athens, Ga and back again. This is back before I had an iPod (which, as irony would have it, is where I am today since my iPhone died yesterday) so I only had a few CDs with me for the journey. This song is one I played over and over again on the trip back. I’m fairly sure that because of that, my wife now has an aversion to Yo La Tengo and Fugu (the other band I played over and over again as we passed through St. Louis).
Yo La Tengo are rolling through Denver on Oct. 10 and you can be sure that you will see me there.
This month, SPLIT welcomes Danger Radio Podcast guest and Denver icon, Kurt Ottaway of The Overcasters to join us on the decks. If you’re not familiar with The Overcasters or you just need one of their tracks on your computer, here’s one of my favorites from their debut: The Overcasters – Way Of The World We’ll [...] […]
This mix was made with my new dj setup- all digital! I don’t have a playlist because I was too caught up in playing with the new toys, but enjoy. Here is a subtle blend of minimal techno, and electro house for your ears to examine. More to come… […]
Last weekend I shuffled into a smalltown venue I’d never been to, on the streets of hippie enclave Manitou Springs (my neighbor to the west) to see Laura Veirs play and sing in a hometown show. I knew nothing about the opening bands, but was immediately smitten when lone Nelson Kempf from Old Believers came [...] […]
I spend a lot of time thinking about optimism. My optimism. It's the most powerful weapon in my, or anyone's, arsenal of potential. A lot of the ways I nourish it are quite conscious in nature. Finding purple linings in apparent clouds (see here). Surrounding myself with upbeat people (see ... […]
The Pains of Being Pure at Heart have risen to fame in the past year, and deservedly so. I’ve been watching them ever since they landed on my doorstep in snowy Iceland in 2008 and I helped arrange a one-off gig for a crowd of measly 30 or so people. I remember one reporter not bothering [...] […]
I love Fall clothing, but they tend to lack the vibrancy and color prevalent on the Spring runways. Although neutrals are big this Fall/Winter 2010, I was pleased to see rich jewel tones and bright prints in Thuy’s show. And speaking of jewels, the collaboration with Swarovski produced unique pieces like a gold [...] […]

The very cool Mon Khmer were on my show Monday night. Their agent dropped me a line a few weeks ago telling me I should check the band out. He told me the band is playing a show this Friday with Bear In Heaven and Secret Machines, two bands I really like.I listened to a few songs on their myspace and booked them immediately for an episode of Guilty Pleasure.
